BERGIN’S BIG JULY RESULTS IN PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Photo Credit: Winnipeg Goldeyes DURHAM, N.C.- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes INF David Bergin (pictured) has been named the league’s Rawlings Player of the Month for the month of July. Bergin hit .368 (35-for-95) during the month, picking up seven doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 22 RBI. The Tampa, Fla. native picked up hits in 22 of the 26 games he played in during the month, and nine of those were multi-hit games. Bergin was 2-for-3 in his second game of the month, a 6-0 win over his former team, the Sioux Falls Canaries. He homered for the first time in July on July 4, part of a 2-for-4 performance in a 6-5 loss to the Wichita Wingnuts on the road. Later in the same road trip, on July 7 at the Gary SouthShore RailCats, Bergin put together his best game of the month. He was 4-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in the effort, a narrow 4-3 Winnipeg victory. In the middle of the month, the Goldeyes completed a sweep of the St. Paul Saints at home, and Bergin was 3-for-4 with a home run in the July…
