Foss Throws Complete Game In Series-Opening Win

WASHINGTON, Penn.– Right-handed pitcher Trevor Foss (6-3) dominated on the mound for the Washington Wild Things [24-18] in a 6-1 victory over the Joliet Slammers [20-21] in the first game of their three-game, weekend series Friday night. Foss went the distance and threw just 90 pitches in his first complete game of the season while allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out five opposing batters. Foss’ ERA is down to 2.82 on the 2017 season, ranking him seventh in the entire Frontier League. Fellow Wild Thing teammates Brian O’Keefe (2-2) and Chase Cunningham (5-0) are ranked third and fifth, respectively. Foss is also third in the league in strikeouts. While the power does go out on Friday nights after the game for fireworks, Washington provided plenty of power during the game to propel them to their seventh win in their last 10 games. The game remained scoreless through the first four innings, until designated hitter Hector Roa (6) hit a solo home run to give Washington a 1-0 lead after five innings.
