TROIS-RIVIERES' 5-RUN FIFTH INNING MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

The Trois-Rivieres Aigles used a five-run fifth inning to erase an early deficit and came back to beat the Ottawa Champions 7-5. The Aigles were trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning and rallied to score five runs on six hits after sending 10 batters to the plate. 3B Daniel Mateo scored the first run on a single from 1B Connor Crane after Mateo hit a leadoff double. Crane and LF Javier Herrera scored when C Kyle Lafrenz doubled to tie the score. SS Alexander Ayala (pictured) scored on a fielder’s choice from RF Julio Martinez and Lafrenz added to the Aigles’ lead when CF Brenden Webb singled.Elsewhere, New Jersey topped the Dominican Republic 14-2 and Quebec beat Cuba 9-4.
