Six Home Runs Help Otters Pummel Beach Bums

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.- The Evansville Otters put up 23 hits, six of them home runs, in a 21-6 win over the Traverse City Beach Bums. The 21 runs ties a season high by any team this year in the league, and the 23 hits set the new season high in that category. Four of the Otters home runs were three-run blasts. Chris Sweeney added on his first two home runs of the year as well. Evansville (13-13) scored runs in every inning except the eight en route to the victory. Traverse City (12-14) used six pitchers, all of whom recorded an earned run. In the first inning, the Otters jumped on Beach Bums starter John Havird scoring five runs. An RBI single from Dane Phillips scored Brandon Soat who led off with a double. John Schultz then scored Josh Allen on a fielder’s choice to make it 2-0. Jeff Gardner hit the first home run of the night with a three run home run to make it 5-0. In the bottom half of the inning, RBI groundouts from Steven Patterson and Will Kengor scored Arby Fields and Jeff DeBlieux respectively to make it 5-2. From there the Otters offense took…
