Lake Erie Survives Extra Inning Battle In 10-9 Victory

AVON, Ohio – The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, won their first extra inning game of the season, as Brandon Murray’s RBI double scored Jordan Dean in the bottom of the 12th inning to push the Crushers past the Gateway Grizziles, 10-9 at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium on Friday night. The win for the Crushers (11-14) was their fourth in their last five games, while the win for the Grizzlies (6-19) was their fourth in their last five games as well. The game was pretty ugly from start to finish. The two teams combined to score 19 runs on 18 hits while nine errors were committed along the way with 22 left on base and five hit batsmen. Lake Erie jumped on the board first, doing so on just one hit. Jordan Dean began the inning with a single to left field, and advanced to second after Connor Oliver walked on four pitches. A wild pitch put Dean at third, and he scored moments later on Sean Hurley’s RBI groundout. The Crushers added a pair of runs to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
