Slammers Split Double-Header With Otters

JOLIET, Ill.– The Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy hosted the Evansville Otters for a double-header after game one had been rained out Tuesday night. Both games would be seven inning contests.Trying to break back into the win column the Slammers sent Shane Bryant (0-2) to the mound opposing Shane Weedman (1-0). Lady luck was in the Slammers corner after being on the receiving end of a couple tough breaks over the homestand as shortstop Chaz Meadows batted with two men on with nobody out. Meadows laid down a sacrafice bunt, but Otters’ third basemen Taylor Hillson lost his grip and threw the ball down the right field line allowing two Slammers’ runs to score. Right fielder Juan Silva continued his hot streak by lacing a no-doubt home run (3) over the right field wall, The Otters answered back with a towering home run into right center off the bat of Brandon Soat (1). The Slammers went on to hold the Otters as Confessor Lara slammed the door in the 9th inning to get the Slammers a 6-4 victory.
