CRESTWOOD, Ill. – The Windy City ThunderBolts split a matinee doubleheader with the Normal CornBelters at Standard Bank Stadium on Wednesday. They won the opener 5-2 before dropping game two 5-3 in ten innings. The CornBelters (5-6) struck first in the early game, going ahead 1-0 before an Austin Darby RBI single tied the score in the third inning. Normal scored again in the fourth but Ransom LaLonde’s RBI double in the bottom of the inning tied the score again. The tie was broken in the fifth when the Bolts (6-5) loaded the bases and Blair Beck scored on a wild pitch. LaLonde followed with a two-run single to make the final 5-2. Jake Fisher (1-0) allowed two runs in five innings for the win. Bob Wheatley (1-1) took the loss, allowing three runs in 4.1 innings. Brian Loconsole picked up his fourth save. Game two was a pitcher’s duel as neither team scored through the first five innings. Normal broke through tin the sixth on a Miguel Torres RBI double but the ThunderBolts answered almost immediately. Darby walked to lead off the bottom of the inning and Keenyn Walker tripled him in. Walker scored on a Coco Johnson sacrifice…
