Otters Win Again After Allen’s Walk-Off Home Run

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville Otters erased an early deficit to beat the Gateway Grizzlies 9-7 on Josh Allen’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Allen’s game-winner was his second home run of the night and it capped off a back and forth game between the Grizzlies and Otters. Gateway started the scoring in the first with an RBI double by third baseman Evan Rogers, giving the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. After Evansville scored an equalizing run in the bottom of the second with a Jeff Gardner solo home run, the Grizzlies retook the lead with three runs in the top of the third. Evansville’s offense responded in the bottom half of that inning with five runs, including Allen’s three-run home run that tied the game at 4-4. Segovia hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, giving Evansville a 7-4 lead. Gateway tied the game in the top of the eighth before Brandon Soat led off the ninth with a double to set up Allen with the late-game heroics.
