AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, doubled up the Washington Wild Things, 4-2, to take the series opener at Sprenger Healthcare Stadium on Tuesday. The win for the Crushers (3-1) was their third in a row after dropping the season opener, while the Wild Things (2-2) dropped their second in three contests after winning their opening game of the season. The scoring started for the Crushers in the bottom of second. Connor Oliver began the frame with a single, stealing second to put a runner in scoring position. After a Sean Hurley strikeout, Robb Paller drew a walk to put two on, and Tanner Lubach followed with a two-out single to score Oliver and give Lake Erie a 1-0 lead after two. Brailin Jackson tied the game with one swing of the bat in the fourth. The Washington left fielder hit the first of two Wild Thing solo shots to even the score at 1-1. The Crushers wasted no time regaining the lead in the bottom of the inning. Oliver produced his second run of the game with a homer to deep right-center to move the score to 2-1.
