The Normal CornBelters, presented by the Illinois Corn Farmers, reveal that former Cardinals and Cubs right handed relief pitcher Lee Smith will attend the MCO Legends Game Weekend! Lee Smith was drafted in 1975 by the Chicago Cubs in the 2nd round of the amateur draft and made his Major League debut in 1980. Throughout his extensive career, Smith played 18 seasons with 8 different clubs. During his eight seasons with the Chicago Cubs he was awarded an NL MVP, Cy Young and two-time All-Star. In 1988 He was awarded AL MVP with the Boston Red Sox. Smith was awarded NL MVP, and a Cy Young and three-time All-Star from 1991 to 1993 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1993, He made an All-Star appearance with the New York Yankees. In 1994, Smith was awarded MVP, a Cy Young and played in the All-Star game for the Orioles. In 1995, Smith made his seventh All-star appearance with the Angels. He played a total of 1,022 games, 478 game saves and 802 games finished throughout his entire career that put him on the ballot for Hall of Fame 15 times.
