BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS By Adam Rickert Eastside Diamond Hoppers 11 AT Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers 7 UTICA — The Eastside Diamond Hoppers opened up this week’s USPBL action with a bang, soaring to a 11-7 victory over the first-place Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers Wednesday night at Jimmy John’s Field. The Hoppers opened the scoring early and often. Their first five batters in the second inning reached base and four came around to score. “It’s really big to score early against this really good Beavers team,” said Hoppers catcher Corey Caswell. “We can never settle down with them because, as you saw tonight, they can chip away and they put up some runs too.” A two-run double by Beavers left fielder Dave Pepe and an RBI single by third baseman Dave Kennon in the bottom of the inning cut the lead back to just one by the time the second was over. However, with the bottom of the order due up again to start the third, the Diamond Hoppers picked up right where they picked off. They grabbed the three-run lead back immediately on singles from Ricky Castro and Chris Power, proceeding to load the bases for Caswell. Caswell officially turned it into…
