PHOTO COURTESY: TRACI O’DONNELL DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Gary SouthShore RailCats INF Frank Martinez (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 31. Martinez hit .400 (10-for-25) this week, helping the RailCats win five of their seven games played. He collected two doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI in the span. The Dominican Republic native began his week on Monday going 1-for-5 with two RBI in a 5-4 loss to the Kansas City T-Bones on the road. Martinez drove in three on Tuesday, part of a 1-for-2 line that also included a run scored in a 7-2 win. The RailCats took the series with a 7-3 win on Wednesday, and Martinez was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Gary SouthShore continued their trip on Thursday, heading to face the Texas AirHogs in Amarillo, Tex. Martinez once again went 2-for-4, hitting his first double of the week and scoring two runs in a 10-5 win.
