BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS By Adam Rickert Utica Unicorns 0 AT Eastside Diamond Hoppers 6 UTICA — For the second night in a row, Jimmy John’s Field saw an extremely low-scoring game highlighted by two brilliant starting pitchers. On Saturday night, it was the Eastside Diamond Hoppers who played to a 6-0 win over the Utica Unicorns. Diamond Hoppers starting pitcher Matt Rodgers held the Unicorns hitless through three innings until Austin Crutcher slapped a two-out single in the fourth. Rodgers would exit the game after just four innings, walking two and striking out three while surrendering just the single to Crutcher. The Hoppers were finally able to get in the hit column against Unicorns starter Donny Murray in the fifth inning. After catcher Corey Caswell reached on an error to lead off the inning and stole second, second baseman Michael Skoller attempted to bunt him over to third. Skoller’s bunt, however, was placed so well down the third base line that it turned into a single rather than a sacrifice. Caswell scored on a sacrifice fly by Joe Fiorino.
