RASCALS HOST SCHAUMBURG TO OPEN 2ND HALF OF SEASON

The second half of the 2016 season begins Friday night at CarShield Field as the River City Rascals host the Schaumburg Boomers to begin a stretch of 21 consecutive games against Frontier League Eastern Division Opponents. The Rascals come into the weekend having dropped 15 of their past 20 games prior to the All-Star break and will be looking to win their first series since June 16th when they defeated the Normal CornBelters. However, the good news is the Rascals did finish the final game going into the break on a high note with an extra-innings victory against the rival Southern Illinois Miners last Sunday. With 47 games left, the playoffs are still in grasp for the Rascals and although they sit ten games back from the first place Miners, they are just four back from the final wild card spot held by the Joliet Slammers. The Rascals are currently 23-26, a few games back from where they were at the all-star break last year at 26-24. Meanwhile, the Boomers come in struggling just like the Rascals having dropped eleven of their past 15 games and this marks the final series of the year between these two clubs. Last time…
