USPBL 7/9 Update: Hoppers fall behind early, rebound for 7-4 win

BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS By Adam Rickert July 9, 2016 Despite facing a 4-0 deficit after two innings, the Eastside Diamond Hoppers were able to rally back to nab a 7-4 victory over the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers in Saturday night’s USPBL action. An RBI single by Dalton DiNatale and an RBI groundout by Joe Fiorino in the top of the fourth cut the Eastside deficit in half. After relief pitcher Andrew Bynum tossed a crucial shutdown inning in the bottom of the fourth, the Diamond Hoppers were able to score three runs in the fifth to jump ahead. Shortstop Ricky Castro led off the inning with a walk and proceeded to steal second. He came home to score on an RBI double from Corey Caswell. Right fielder Tyler Booth followed Caswell with a game-tying RBI groundout, scoring Ryne Willard. Caswell then scored on DiNatale’s second RBI single of the night. The Hoppers added two huge insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Luke Ortel doubled in Ricky Castro, who led off the inning with a triple, and Ortel later scored on a sacrifice fly from Caswell. However, the Hoppers’ biggest star of the night may have been relief pitcher…
