A pair of runs in both the fifth and seventh innings and dominant pitching paved the way for the Capitales to blank the Jackals 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. RHP Karl Gelinas (pictured) scattered four hits and a walk in eight shutout innings, striking out eight Jackals and earning the win. He was buoyed in the fifth by RF Marcus Knecht, who hit a two-run double to break the scoreless tie. CF Kalian Sams increased the lead in the seventh with an RBI single, and two batters later, Knecht drew a bases-loaded walk to set the final score. Elsewhere, Ottawa beat Sussex County 6-5 and Rockland topped Trois-Rivieres 6-4 in eight innings, both in first games of doubleheaders.
