By Don Drysdale – June 17, 2016 After losing their first three games in the United Shore Professional Baseball League, the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers have now won five in a row to move into sole possession of first place. On Friday night, the Beavers used a brilliant starting pitching performance from Alex Kinch and a home run by Nic Wilson to easily dispose of the Eastside Diamond Hoppers 5-0 at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica, MI. Kinch, who is from Ann Arbor, MI, was dominant in his five innings of work as he struck out 10, while only allowing three hits. With his performance, Kinch picked up his first win of the season while lowering his ERA to a microscopic 0.62. Wilson’s league-leading fifth home run of the season, a 2-run blast, came in the top of the first inning and extended the Beavers lead to 3-0 and they never looked back. Nearly as impressive as Kinch was the Beavers bullpen, which allowed zero runs in four innings, while striking out six batters. Most impressive was Andrew Nelson, who struck out two batters in two innings of relief. Birmingham-Bloomfield scored four of their five runs off of Diamond Hoppers starting pitcher…
