LECHEROS SHUTOUT GOLDEYES AS HOT STREAK CONTINUES.

FRANKLIN, Wis. – The Lecheros de Milwaukee showed off another dominant performance as they dispatched the Winnipeg Goldeyes in game one of their three game series.
The Lecheros shut out the Goldeyes behind starting pitcher A.J. Jones, who went six innings and allowed only two hits and one walk during that time. It was also his second time in three starts without giving up a run.
“He’s been very good recently, I think he’s found what type of pitcher he is,” manager Anthony Barone said of Jones’ performances. “He’s comfortable with who he is and what he does as well. He’s been outstanding for us.”
With a shutout performance from Jones going on the Lecheros offense got to work. In the second inning Dylan Kelly doubled and advanced to third before scoring on a wild pitch and Bryan Torres singled to score Logan Trowbridge.
Trowbridge then scored again in the sixth inning with a double and stole third base before being sent home off of a hit from Jeremiah Burks. Trowbrige then continued his hot night with a double in the seventh that scored Will Kengor and Miguel Gomez.
“I’ve been swinging the bat a lot better lately,” Trowbridge said after bringing his batting average up to .260 after being under .200 at the beginning of July. “I’m just trying to shorten up and be compact with my swing and it’s been paying off.”
Frankie Bartow, Karch Kowalczyk and Rodrigo Benoit each pitched in the last three innings for the Lecheros and only Bartow gave up a hit as Milwaukee closed their series opener 5-0.
Tonight the Lecheros had their second night dedicated to celebrating Latino heritage in Milwaukee and the game of baseball, the next Lecheros night will be August 21st. Tomorrow night is Bikes at the Ballpark night at Franklin Field. The Milkmen will have a jersey auction, motorcycle show, electric bike giveaway and fireworks after the game. The game is set to start at 6:00 p.m.
