Thursday night’s series finales ended with a number of series sweeps—for Sussex County, Québec, and Southern Illinois. The Boomers jumped ahead in the first with a pair of runs scoring on a Matt Bottcher double with the bases loaded. Rain halted the game for over an hour in the second inning. In the seventh inning, Schaumburg extended the lead to 5-0. Quincy Nieporte hit an RBI single and Braxton Davidson connected on a two-run home run. Meanwhile, starter Ryan Middendorf tossed seven shutout innings, striking out a career-high nine batters and allowing just two hits.
