JOLIET, IL – As the final game of the Slammers/Boomers series got under way, right hander Cam Aufderheide took to the bump with eyes set on a series win for Joliet. The Joliet crew was on the hunt for a series win against the Boomers. After some clutch hitting late in the game to bring the game into extra innings, the Slammers prevailed in the first ever Frontier League home run derby at DuPage Medical Group Field. Schaumburg put up the first run of the game in the top of the second inning, as Angelo Gumbs would come home off a sacrifice fly by Nick Oddo putting the score at 1-0. The Boomers would strike again two innings later, scoring two more runs. An RBI single by Clint Hardy would bring Angelo Gumbs home, and another RBI single by Alec Craig would allow Nick Oddo to cross the plate. The two…
