The Utica Unicorns (5-3) would pick up back-to-back wins after the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Westside Woolly Mammoths (3-4), at Jimmy John’s Field.
The first run of the game came off of Jared Weber’s bat, launching a two-run home run 341-feet into left field to open the game 2-0, which would be Weber’s second home run of the season.
Francis Florentino would continue his spectacular hitting day, with his second home run in two games, giving the Mammoths a 2-0 lead.
The Unicorns would load the bases in the bottom of the third, before Dee Triplett would hit a ground ball single to bring two Unicorns home and take back the lead. Jared Weber hit a sac fly, and Austin Ochoa singled, making the score 6-3.
Neither team would score for the rest of the outing, sealing the Unicorns second victory of the day and moving them right next to the Eastside Diamond Hoppers atop the USPBL Standings.
