SALTDOGS RE-SIGN ALL-STAR NICK ANDERSON

The Lincoln Saltdogs have re-signed all-star OF Nick Anderson, the club has announced.

Anderson put together a career year in his debut season with the ‘Dogs in 2023, earning a selection to the American Association All-Star Game and a spot in the AA Home Run Derby.

In 91 games, Anderson hit .276 with a career-high 20 homers and 58 RBIs – a breakout year in his fourth pro season.

Anderson also manned center field for much of the year, providing outstanding defense with speed that also allowed him to go 16-for-16 stealing bases.

Anderson’s 20 homers ranked ninth in the league, while his 70 walks ranked second and .935 OPS qualified for 10th. Anderson’s 16 steals were third-most among players who did not get caught stealing.

Anderson, 26, has had one of the more unique stories in the American Association. His pro career began with independent River City in the Frontier League in 2019. After taking 2020 off – as many players did – he played with the traveling Houston Apollos for eight games before his contract was purchased by the Minnesota Twins.

Anderson’s career continued with Single-A Fort Myers before he later signed with the Kane County Cougars. Anderson was a role player for two years in Kane County before his breakout 2023 with Brett Jodie and the Saltdogs.

To date, Anderson has 260 career games of pro experience and 27 professional homers. The Houston native played collegiately at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The ‘Dogs open the season at Fargo-Moorhead on Friday, May 10th. Lincoln’s home opener is Thursday, May 16th against the Cleburne Railroaders.
