SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, utilized four pitchers to spin a combined 1-0 shutout of the Southern Illinois Miners in the opener of a mid-week series on Tuesday night. The only run of the game came across in the bottom of the third inning. Dylan Jones was hit by a pitch to start the inning, moved to second on a wild pitch and reached third when Alex Polston singled. Jack Parenty knocked home the only run with a sacrifice fly. Payton Lobdell consistently shut down opportunities for Southern Illinois on the mound, working six blank innings. Southern Illinois had a runner in scoring position in five straight frames but could not break through. Lobdell has not allowed a run against Southern Illinois in 15 innings against his former team.
