GUGLIETTI SETS CHAMPIONS RECORD, IS NAMED WEEK’S TOP HITTER

Thornhill, Ontario — Ottawa Champions 1B Vinny Guglietti is the Can-Am League’s Batter of the Week for the week of July 8-14, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. In an abbreviated week due to the league’s all-star game Tuesday, Guglietti went 8-for-17 (.471) with a double, a triple and eight RBI as the Champions took three of four games from the first-place Sussex County Miners. Most notably, the native of East Haven, Conn., set a Champions franchise record with five hits to go along with four RBI in his team’s 18-15 victory Sunday. Currently, Guglietti is hitting .275 with eight doubles and 23 RBI in 43 games for Ottawa. His five homers on the season are tied for the club lead.
