July 1 Evening Recap New Jersey 3, Quebec 2 (8 Innings/Game 1) – Box Score Second basemen Nelson Ward singled home SS Santiago Chirino with the game winning run in the eighth inning as New Jersey defeated Quebec, 3-2 in game one of a doubleheader. Chirino started off the eighth by advancing to second base. The next batter, 1B Conrad Gregor, flew out to left field for the first out of the inning. Left fielder Alfredo Marte followed Gregor and was intentionally walked to put runners at first and second. Ward next stepped to the plate and picked-up the game winning base hit to score Chirino and win the game for the Jackals.
