Thornhill, Ontario — Rockland Boulders 2B Ryne Birk has been named the Can-Am League’s Batter of the Week for the week of May 27-June 2, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. In seven games, Birk hit a sizzling .556 (15-for-27) with four doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBI as the Boulders went 6-1 on the week to move into third place. The Parkersburg, W.Va., native had at least one hit in every game during the week, highlighted by: A 4-for-5 performance in a 4-3 win over Ottawa on May 28; A 3-for-3, two-RBI night in a 7-3 victory over Quebec on May 31 in which the 24-year-old was a single short of the cycle; Another 3-hit day on June 2, driving in three runs in a 13-5 win over Quebec.
