A week after the San Francisco Giants signed Windy City ThunderBolts starter Adam Oller, the Washington Wild Things lost its starting catcher in a similar fashion. 22-year-old Lucas Herbert was purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday and will return to affiliated ball following a productive 17 game stint in the Frontier League. Herbert finished his brief career in the League with a .290 batting average, a .362 on-base percentage and threw out four out of 12 would-be base stealers. The former Braves 2nd round pick out of high school played 67 games in Atlanta’s advanced-A affiliate in 2018. Over in River City, manager Steve Brook, who is in his 16th season in the Frontier League and 10th as a manager, won his 500th game on Friday, May 31 against Windy City, 4-2.
