Photo Credit: Trois-Rivieres Aigles DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Trois-Rivieres Aigles LHP Jacob Evans (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 26. Evans racked up 19 strikeouts over 13.2 innings in a pair of starts for the Aigles this week. He first took the hill on Tuesday to face the New Jersey Jackals on the road, fanning nine opposing hitters and walking just one over six innings of work. Evans surrendered three runs in the outing, and was a tough-luck loser in a pitcher’s duel, as New Jersey won 3-1. Evans and the Aigles would both return to the winner’s column on Sunday, when the Broken Arrow, Okla. native dominated the Ottawa Champions on the road. Over 7.2 shutout innings, Evans scattered four hits and three walks, and struck out 10 Ottawa hitters. Trois-Rivieres cruised to a 4-0 win the contest. On the season, Evans is now 2-1 with a 1.13 ERA in five appearances, four of which have come in a starting role. He has struck out 37 and walked only eight in 31.2 innings.
