TRAVERSE CITY TAKES EARLY LEAD TO BEAT SCHAUMBURG

SCHAUMBURG, IL- The Traverse City Beach Bums’(41-47) had a seven run lead heading into the last three innings and were able to hang on against the Schaumburg Boomers(43-46), winning by a final score of 9-7, and taking the first two games of this weekend’s three game series. Will Kengor picked up the first run of the game as he blasted a two-out solo homer over the right field wall, his 11th of the season, in the first inning. In the second, Alec Olund led off with a walk then Ryan Kemp singled to center field. Josh Hauser followed with his own single, scoring Olund and moving Kemp to second. Orlando Rivera hit his own RBI single, scoring Kemp and advancing Hauser to third. Isaac Benard then drove in Hauser on a sacrifice fly for a 4-0 Bums lead. With an out in the third, Olund doubled to right field and moved to third on a wild pitch. After Hauser walked, Orlando Rivera hit his third triple of the season, driving in two more runs for a six run advantage.
