LOPEZ FIRES NO-HITTER AS JACKALS DEFEAT CHAMPIONS

AUGUST 7 EVENING LEAGUE RECAP Photo Courtesy: New Jersey Jackals New Jersey 5, Ottawa 0 – Box Score Starting pitcher Eduar Lopez (pictured) threw the seventh no-hitter in Can-Am League history tonight as New Jersey shutout Ottawa, 5-0. This is the first no-no since June 14, 2015 when Jamie Walczak of Sussex County accomplished the feat. Lopez, in just his second outing with the Jackals, gave up only a walk and a wild pitch while striking out four in a 90-pitch performance (59 for strikes). The righty faced 28 total batters and allowed his first base runner of the contest in the seventh inning (one-out walk to SS Daniel Bick). Lopez is now 1-1 on the year. Offensively for the Jackals, C Kevin Torres led the way going 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. New Jersey LF Connor Hofmann and DH John Ruettiger each had 2-for-4 nights with Hofmann scoring a run and Ruettiger driving in one.
