Kessay (4-3) dominated during his time with the RedHawks, posting a 2.45 ERA in 69.2 innings of work across 12 starts. Kessay played his high school ball in the Phoenix area before playing at Scottsdale Community College. The Arizona native’s last start, a scoreless six-inning performance against the Saints in which he surrendered just three hits while striking out five, put an exclamation point to his efforts. Kessay originally began his professional career in 2013 after being drafted in the 22nd round of the 2013 MLB Draft. The sharp lefty spent four seasons in the Astros’ organization, going 12-7 with 4.32 ERA while reaching as high as High-A. He is the 16th player sold to an MLB organization from the AA since the end of last season.
