KOPLOVE’S SINGLE IN THE NINTH GIVES MINERS WALK-OFF WIN

AUGUST 1 LEAGUE RECAP Sussex County 6, Trois-Rivieres 5 – Box Score Pinch hitter Kenny Koplove singled home 1B/3B Audy Ciriaco with the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Sussex County defeated Trois-Rivieres in a walk-off, 6-5. With the score 4-2 Aigles after six innings of play, the Miners plated three runs over the next two innings to grab the lead at 5-4. Trois-Rivieres scored a run in the top of the ninth to tie it at 5-5 before Sussex County won it in the final frame on Koplove’s single. This was Koplove’s first at-bat since he was at Duke in 2015. The Miners had 16 hits in the contest with all 12 batters that came to the plate collecting at least one. Ciriaco went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI while leadoff hitter Breland Almadova scored a run and drove in one in a 3-for-5 night. Sussex County pitcher Alex Demchak threw an inning of relief and picked-up his second victory. Demchak gave up an earned run on two hits and fanned a batter. For the Aigles, RF Michael Suchy went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI.…
