Photo: Drew Wohl / Rockland Boulders Durham, N.C. — After a superb start Sunday, Rockland Boulders LHP Garrett Johnson is the Can-Am League’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 23-29, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. The 30-year-old was the winning pitcher in Rockland’s 4-0 victory at New Jersey, throwing seven shutout innings while allowing just four singles, walking none and striking out nine. The victory capped off a 3-1 July for Johnson in which he fanned 31 hitters in 24.2 innings of work. On the season, the Stillwater, Okla., native is 5-2 with a 4.53 ERA and one save, making 15 appearances, nine of them starts. His 65 strikeouts are third-most in the league, while his five victories tie him for the team lead. The 2018 season marks a return to the Can-Am League for the 6’10” Johnson after four seasons out of the pro game. Previously, he pitched out of the bullpen for the Boulders in 2012 and 2013; his 47 appearances in 2012 are tied for most in Rockland history and fourth-most in league history.
