Traverse City Hits Six Homers In Victory Over Gateway

SAUGET, IL- The Traverse City Beach Bums(30-28) put together a four run ninth inning, earning their sixth consecutive series win in tonight’s 9-5 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies(25-36). After a scoreless 1st, Steve Lohr led off the second with a solo home run, his fifth of the season. Three batters later, Connor Oliver cranked a solo bomb down the right field line, doubling the Traverse City advantage. Gateway got a run back in the third when Paul Russo singled in a run. In the fourth, Alexis Rivera and Luke Lowery hit back-to-back solo homers, pushing the lead to 4-1. In the bottom of the inning, Blake Brown hit a two-run homer and Brent Sakurai hit an RBI single, tying the game at four. With one out in the sixth inning, Jeff Cardenas slammed a solo home run over the centerfield wall, giving the Grizzlies their first lead of the series. Oliver responded in the top of the seventh, rocketing an opposite field solo homer, his second home run of the game and fifth of the season, tying things up at five.
