MINERS DEFEAT JACKALS TO WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT GAME

JULY 20 LEAGUE RECAP Sussex County 7, New Jersey 4 – Box Score The Sussex County Miners won their fourth straight contest as they defeated New Jersey by the score of 7-4. After three scoreless innings to open up the contest, Sussex County tallied three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to grab a 6-0 lead and would never look back. The 6-7 hitters of the Miners led the way offensively as CF Jayce Ray (pictured) and C Luis Alen went a combined 3-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored and four RBIs. Designated hitter Daniel Mateo and 2B Mikey Reynolds each chipped in 2-for-4 nights with a run scored for Sussex County. The Miners had 10 total hits in the game. Sussex County starting pitcher Kenny Koplove threw five solid innings and notched his fifth win of the season. Koplove struck out six and walked four in his 84-pitch outing. For New Jersey in the losing effort, CF Jordan Hinshaw went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
