Windy City ThunderBolts’ outfielder Axel Johnson and Normal CornBelters starting pitcher Jack Landwehr were named Frontier League Players and Pitcher of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. Axel Johnson earned the first honor for the ThunderBolts this season after a week that saw him hit safely in all six games played.  Against Washington and Traverse City, Johnson stroked 14 hits in 28 at bats with five doubles, one triple, one home run, and seven RBI.  On the season, Johnson has a .370 batting average for Windy City with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs, 14 RBI, and two stolen bases. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Johnson began his professional career when he signed with the American Association’s Joplin Blasters out of Missouri Southern State University.  Johnson remained with the team when they moved to Cleburne, Texas, for the 2017 season until he was traded to Windy City on June 13.
