ROLLINS SECURES SWEEP FOR MINERS

Sussex County 2, Salina 1 – Box Score The Miners completed a three-game sweep of the Stockade by edging their visitors in a 2-1 pitchers’ duel. LHP David Rollins (pictured) struck out seven over the course of seven strong innings for the Miners, scattering four hits and allowing just one run in the process. RHP El’Hajj Muhammad worked a scoreless eighth, and LHP Alex Demchak finished the job in the ninth for the save. Offensively, C Luis Alen hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1, and SS Jarred Mederos hit the game-winning RBI double in the sixth inning. Salina 2B Steven Longo had two hits in the loss. Rockland 12, New Jersey 3 – Box Score The Boulders pounded out 12 runs on 13 hits to snap a losing streak and beat the rival Jackals 12-3. LF Kevin Krause and 1B Mikael Mogues hit back-to-back home runs to start of the top of the fifth inning for Rockland, and 2B Cody Regis hit a three-run homer later in the frame. RF Conor Bierfeldt finished the game with a team-high three hits for the Boulders, and three other players had two hits for Rockland.…
