SAINTS’ ALLEN SOLD TO THE METS

FARGO, ND — The contract of St. Paul Saints’ 2B Josh Allen (pictured) has been purchased by the New York Mets, the American Association announced on Thursday. Allen was fantastic in his debut American Association season, batting a team leading .344 with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs in 24 games. The Fort Meade, Florida native began his professional career in 2014 with the Evansville Otters (Frontier League) after playing one season at Division II University of West Florida. Allen spent four seasons with the Otters, winning league MVP in 2016. The former Argonaut hasn’t batted below the .300 mark since 2015; hitting .354 in 2016, .310 in 2017, and .344 so far in 2018. Allen’s first appearance in the Mets’ system will be his first in affiliated ball.
