Marion, IL (June 3, 2018) – The Southern Illinois Miners came back yet again against the Evansville Otters on Sunday night at Rent One Park for a 4-2 victory, the team’s fourth straight win, and swept the visitors in the weekend series in Marion. The Otters scored both their runs in the top of the second inning against starter Kurt Heyer on RBI hits by Luis Vilorio and Ryan Long to take a 2-0 lead. The Miners would get one run right back in the bottom of the frame on a two-out RBI single by John Holland to make it 2-1, and that’s the way the score remained as both Heyer and Otters starter Tyler Vail worked around baserunners in nearly every inning from the third through the fifth, with Austin Dubsky taking over for Heyer after he worked four innings and surrendered only the two Evansville runs. After the Miners had the tying run in scoring position in four straight innings against Vail, they broke through in the sixth inning when Romeo Cortina doubled and scored on an RBI single to left field by Dougie Parks, his first professional hit, to chase Vail and tie the game at 2-2.…
