Lake Erie Finishes Off Sweep of the Normal CornBelters

AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie pitching staff finished what they started on Tuesday with another spectacular performance on Thursday afternoon. Crushers starter Donald Murray (1-1) tossed seven scoreless innings and Sean Hurley homered as Lake Erie (4-2) won their fourth consecutive game by the score of 2-0. The Crushers pitching staff had held the CornBelters (1-5) to just two runs in the first two games of the series. Murray, who was coming off of a tough outing against Southern Illinois, used seven strikeouts and a couple of double plays to hold the Normal offense to no runs and just five hits over seven innings. In the second inning, Murray induced a 5-4-3 double play to get out of trouble. The right-hander did the same thing in the fifth inning when Justin Fletcher grounded into a double play. Offense was hard to come by for the Crushers on Thursday. CornBelters starter Scott Sebald (1-1) went eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits but one of them was the difference maker.
