AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, used a lights out pitching performance from starter Nick Deeg and some extra inning magic to win their third game in a row on Wednesday afternoon by the score of 2-1. For the second straight day, Lake Erie (3-2) got a solid outing from their starting pitcher. Deeg worked seven innings, which was the most for a Crushers starter in 2018. The lefty struck out eight and only walked one while only allowing three singles. CornBelters starter, Jacinto Garcia went five innings and held the Lake Erie offense to just one run on six hits. That one run came in the fifth inning. With one out, Dalton Wheat doubled and moved to third on a groundout by Dane Hutcheon. That brought up Tuesday’s hero, Kevin Lachance. The Crushers shortstop lined a ball up the middle that knocked the glove off of Garcia. The ball deflected towards second and Lechance beat the throw, making it 1-0.
