Washington Wild Things Sign Medina, Place Havrilak and Brown on Suspended List

WASHINGTON, Pa. (April 19) – Today the Wild Things announced three roster moves, which will be the final three before next week’s Frontier League Draft. Washington signed Cuban outfielder Reydel Medina. The Wild Things also acquired Washington, Pennsylvania native and outfielder Joey Havrilak from the Gary SouthShore RailCats, before placing him and 2017 All Star outfielder Rashad Brown on the suspended list. Medina comes the Wild Things’ way after his release from the Cincinnati Reds’ organization, where he spent the last four seasons after signing as an International Free Agent. In four minor-league seasons, Medina hit 36 home runs and drove in 148 runs. He started his pro career in 2014 with the Reds’ Arizona League rookie team, before reaching as high as Double-A Pensacola in 2017. Most of his time in the Reds’ system was spent with the Daytona Tortugas (Advanced A). His best power season came in 2015, when he hit 13 home runs in 236 plate appearances for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League.
