Traverse City Beach Bums Add Simpson and Finan

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The Traverse City Beach Bums have announced the signings of catcher Jake Simpson and pitcher Justin Finan. Jake Simpson returns to the Beach Bums after spending 2017’s training camp with the club. He then played the regular season for the Old Orchard Beach Surge of the Empire Professional League, where he hit 290 with six doubles, 17 runs scored, and 22 runs batted in, in 41 games. At 6’5” and 235 pounds, the Garland, TX native will be a big target behind the plate for the Beach Bums pitching staff. Justin Finan is a recent graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. In four seasons as a Crusader, the right-hander had a record of 9-12 with 4.91 earned run average. The Barrington, RI native struck out 98 while walking 52 in 177 innings pitched. His best year was as a junior when he went 3-3 with a 3.88 ERA. Justin earned All-League honors at Deerfield Academy and played baseball and hockey at Bishop Hendricken High School, leading them to the 2012 State hockey title.
