Sioux Falls 2, Gary SouthShore 1 — Box Score With SS Blake Schmit’s solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sioux Falls Canaries walked off on the Gary SouthShore RailCats 2-1. The Canaries scored first in the game with an RBI single from LF Burt Reynolds in the bottom of the sixth inning that scored 3B Tyler Wolfe. But in the seventh, the RailCats tied the score as SS Ryan Fitzgerald hit a lead-off double and scored after 2B Andy DeJesus singled and took second on an error. In the bottom of the ninth, both of the first two batters were retired and Schmit was down to his final strike before ending the game with his fourth home run of the year. No batter in the game had multiple hits in the game – six different RailCats and four different Canaries each recorded one. The RailCats’ starting pitcher Dan Minor had a career-high 12 strikeouts in the no decision.
