JOLIET, IL – The Traverse City Beach Bums(35-52) scored in the first inning of both ends of tonight’s twin bill, earning 7-5 and 3-1 wins over the Joliet Slammers(39-49). For the second game in a row, Jeff DeBlieux led off the game with a single and scored. Tonight, it was a shot to left. Orlando Rivera sacrificed him to second and Steven Patterson walked to put runners on the corners. Luke Lowery then smashed a double to center, scoring DeBlieux and Patterson, for the early 2-0 lead. After Arby Fields walked, Nick Murphy hit a two-run double, doubling the Bums’ advantage. Joliet started to chip away at their deficit in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single by Ridge Hoopii-Haslam. In the the3rd, David Gonzalez scored on an error, Hoopii-Haslam and Edwin Gomez each hit RBI singles to tie the game. Joliet took the lead, 5-4, in the fourth on a Dom Iero RBI single. In the seventh, Jeff DeBlieux led off by legging out an infield single. Two batters later, Steven Patterson followed with a single of his own, putting the tying run on base. Luke Lowery came to the plate and blasted a three run home run…
